History of the company
The official registration date of non-state engineering organization "Marine Engineering Bureau" is March, 23, 1995.
Bureau has been created by group of young scientific employees from shipbuilding faculty of the Odessa National Marine University (former ÎIEMF) with the purpose of usage their own knowledge in sphere which fully complied with their views on life and activity.
From the moment of birth Bureau has passed a way from the small firm engaged in calculation tasks on the ships' hull and scientific researches under orders of classification societies only, up to organization that are able to carry out practically the whole spectrum of engineering works for shipping and shipbuilding industries.
Russian company "Marine Engineering Bureau - SPb" was established in the March of 2000 at the St.Petrsburg. An agreement concerning strategic cooperation was concluded with this company in order to carry out mutual efforts to advance "Marine Engineering Bureau" brand to the market. Results of friendly design companies cooperation are shown on the mutual web site.
Since May, 2001 "Marine Engineering Bureau" has been started works of a new direction – development and support of classification projects of modern vessels of new types. 25 projects were fully completed on January, 1, 2007. Under these projects 58 marine vessels were put into operation and 22 ones were under building. Simultaneously more than 40 river-going vessels were built due these projects. More over projects of large modernisations of existent vessels were carried out.
During the life-time the number of Bureau's regular employees has increased from 4 to 62 ones, and amount of done works has increased more than in 100 times.
From the early beginning the highly professional developments and engineering solutions done by "Marine Engineering Bureau" have got recognition and support of leading experts of the Russian Marine Register of Shipping (RS).
For example it's possible to quote the letter of the RS Chief Engineer Mr. Bykov No.010-3.2.2-3916Ð dated 04.04.1995. It was written that "creation of the organizations similar to yours is represented to us as the duly, effective solution of the problem linked to saving of collectives consist of highly professional specialists, capable to solve difficult technical tasks of maintenance of a maritime fleet. At this moment conditions the role of such collectives increases in keeping of fleet activity, in adoption of critical decisions concerning fleet's safety maintenance. Firstly this is connected with ageing of the native fleet, with the limited resources of repair bases and, as the corollary, with appreciable increase of repair expenses".
From 1998 workings and scientific contacts with Russian River Register were greatly strengthen. These contacts became more wide every year, that provided the efficiency of work increase of river-going fleet of Russia.
Work with Gosflotnadzor of Ukraine, and then with the Ukraine Register of Shipping as its successor, has entirely been oriented to a support of native ship-owners including development of national Rules of classification and a building of vessels of various types.
Efforts of Bureau's employees have always been centred on basic technical problems of providing the safety maintenance and increasing of efficiency of available fleet of native ship-owners.
Among our customers there are Marine and River Transport Federal Agency of Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation, FSUC "Rosmorport", "Ukrvodput" State Company, successfully working non-state companies such as group of companies "Palmali", "Volgo-Baltic Company" ("North-West Shipping Company", "Volgoflot", " Volgoflot tanker", Nevskiy Shipbuilding-Shiprepairing Yard), OJSC "Norilsk Nickel", Onega Shipbuilding Yard, "Orion" ("Belomorsk-Onega Shipping Company"), shipyard "Teplokhod", "Azov-Don Shipping Company" ("Volgo-Don Shipping Company", "Donrechflot", "Kuban River Shipping Company"), "Murmansk Shipping Company", "North Shipping Company", BLRT group, "Ukrrichflot", "Lena United River Shipping Company", "South Sevastopol" Shipyard, "Albros", "Concord Shipping Company", "Aston", "Commercial Fleet of Donbas", "Blue Wave", "North River Shipping Company", "BEST" è etc.
The significant amount of works on new vessels design does not foil employees of the "Marine Engineering Bureau" to carry out works on providing safety and effective maintenance of existing vessels which are traditional. This work include designs of modernization, renewal, loading capacity increase, class notation increase, expansion of navigation areas, etc. which determine the appearance and real opportunities of a native mercantile fleet mostly.
